Will Gabaldón (b. 1978 Belen, New Mexico) lives and works in Chicago, IL. Gabaldón’s intimately scaled oil paintings on linen and panel foreground the natural world. In varying shades of green offset by vibrantly colored skies, Gabaldón creates bucolic scenes based on personal memories of various outdoor spaces as well as imagined scenarios wherein the impacts of climate change are present.
Gabaldón received his BFA from the University of New Mexico and his MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. He has had solo exhibitions at The Journal Gallery, New York (2023); Galería Mascota, Mexico City (2023); Various Small Fires, Los Angeles and Seoul (2022); TSA Gallery, Brooklyn, New York (2013); amongst others. Recent group exhibitions include Make Room, Los Angeles (2023); Venus Over Manhattan, New York (2022); Sanitary Tortilla Factory, Albuquerque, New Mexico (2020); amongst others. He was in residence at Yaddo, Saratoga Springs, NY (2012). His work is in the collection of the Portland Museum of Art.
