Overview

Spotlighting ordinary, functional objects, Marie Herwald Hermann gives weight to isolated moments of significance. In contrast with the often mundane and utilitarian use of clay, Hermann creates boldly saturated, precisely rendered domestic items to highlight the automatic nature of modern life, the things owned and used without notice.

For this exhibition in the gallery's Project Room, Hermann incorporates carved wood pieces alongside ceramic vessels, resulting in multi-dimensional mixed media arrangements.

Opening reception: May 1 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
